中评社香港9月10日电/Main Theme:Sustainable Peace:From Conflict to Cooperation
Background
The United Nations is emphasizing multilateral cooperation among the international communities to ‘respond’ to global issues and ‘prevent’ threats for sustainable peace and continues to discuss ways to achieve the adopted Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The security situation on the Korean peninsula, which has a profound impact on the global security, is expected to transform into a peace regime through the inter-Korean Summit and the DPRK-US Summit as North Korea has rapidly shifted toward a mood of reconciliation.
On the other hand, different parts of the world are facing military, economic confrontation as countries are maximizing their own interests, making cooperation and confidence building crucial to achieve a strategic balance.
In this context, the Seoul Defense Dialogue 2018 has selected ‘Sustainable Peace:From Conflict to Cooperation’ as a main theme in line with current international discussions on preventing various threats and promoting peace. Each session agenda aims to develop deeper discussions on existing discussions associated with the main theme. |
